VISN 12, Clement J. Zablocki Veterans' Administration Medical Center

Milwaukee, WI

Romanyk Consulting Corporation (RCC) provided architectural and engineering (AE) services to prepare drawings, specifications and cost estimates to upgrade electrical and IT infrastructure to ready the campus for the VA’s new EHRM system. Prior to design, RCC’s professionals conducted field investigation of 23 buildings, spanning 245 acres. The team also conducted studies and user interviews to compile a comprehensive understanding of the condition and needs of the medical center. The design phase included schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction period services. The final improvement project consisted of the renovation or new construction of 99 telecommunications rooms (TR) and main server room. For telecommunications systems, the design includes dual fiber entrance and backbone distribution systems, new cat 6a horizontal cabling infrastructure, and grounding and bonding. For mechanical, plumbing, and electrical, the design includes split cooling systems, vertiv units, redundant CRAC units for the server room, and redundant power systems for all TR rooms. The redundant power systems include normal power, generator power, and 2N central UPS.
